Core Responsibilities
- Inspect fabricated sheet metal components on shop floor using vernier calipers and micrometers as per approved drawings.
- Measure dimensions of bent and welded parts with gauges and record results in inspection reports.
- Verify surface finish and joint alignment of assemblies using visual aids and measuring scales.
- Check incoming raw materials against material test certificates and maintain inspection logs.
- Prepare final inspection documents and attach acceptance tags on cleared components.
- Support internal audits by presenting inspection files and completed quality check records.
Skills and Technical Exposure
- Vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Surface inspection gauges and welding gauges.
- Engineering drawings and inspection checklists.
- Material test certificates and inspection reports.
- ISO quality system documents.
Experience Context
- Work is performed inside a structural fabrication plant handling multiple steel components daily.
- Inspection covers large volume sheet metal parts produced through cutting, bending, and welding machines.
- Absence of this role can result in unchecked components reaching assembly and dispatch stages.
