Core Responsibilities
- Inspect forged components visually and dimensionally using vernier calipers, micrometers, and surface plates.
- Check incoming raw material against material test certificates and record heat numbers on inspection sheets.
- Measure hardness of forgings with hardness testing machines and log readings in quality records.
- Compare finished part dimensions with approved drawings and mark inspection status on tags.
- Maintain physical inspection reports and batch wise quality files for traceability.
- Separate accepted and rejected parts in identified storage bins within the plant floor.
Skills and Technical Exposure
- Vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Hardness testing machines and surface roughness testers.
- Inspection drawings, control plans, and check sheets.
- Material test certificates and heat traceability records.
- Batch inspection reports and rejection tags.
Experience Context
- Work takes place inside a forging and machining plant handling high volume metal components.
- The role covers inspection of multiple batches produced during each production shift.
- Without this role, non conforming parts may move to dispatch without detection.
- Consistent inspection prevents customer complaints and internal scrap accumulation.
