Core Responsibilities
- Read mechanical drawings and match dimensions with vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges on the shop floor.
- Observe machining stages on CNC turning and milling machines and note cycle completion in daily production sheets.
- Assist in fixture mounting and tool alignment on conventional and CNC machines using setup checklists.
- Record machine parameters, tool numbers, and batch identifiers in shift-wise log registers.
- Check cast and machined parts visually and dimensionally before movement to the next workstation.
- Tag finished components with batch cards and transfer slips for internal material flow.
Skills & Technical Exposure
- Use of vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
- Exposure to CNC turning centers and vertical machining centers.
- Reading of mechanical drawings and GD&T symbols.
- Handling of job cards, batch cards, and production registers.
- Basic use of measuring surface plates and height gauges.
Experience Context
- Works inside a foundry and machine shop environment with continuous casting and machining batches.
- Supports daily production where missing measurements can halt part movement across stations.
- Engages with multiple machines and tooling setups across a single manufacturing shift.
