Core Responsibilities
- Inspect centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, and agitators on chemical plant lines using torque wrenches, dial gauges, and alignment tools.
- Carry out overhauling of reactors, heat exchangers, and rotary equipment with spanners, hydraulic jacks, and lifting tackles.
- Prepare preventive maintenance schedules in maintenance logs and equipment history cards.
- Replace mechanical seals, bearings, and couplings based on vibration readings and lubrication charts.
- Check utility systems including boilers, compressors, and cooling towers through physical parameter readings.
- Record breakdown details in maintenance registers and update spare consumption records.
Skills & Technical Exposure
- Centrifugal pumps, screw compressors, and rotary vacuum pumps.
- Dial indicators, vibration meters, infrared thermometers, and pressure gauges.
- Preventive maintenance checklists, breakdown reports, and equipment manuals.
- Welding machines, gas cutting sets, and power tools.
- Lubrication systems, grease charts, and oil analysis reports.
Experience Context
- Work is carried out inside a running chemical manufacturing plant with multiple rotating machines.
- Equipment downtime affects batch completion timelines and utility availability.
- Absence of mechanical upkeep leads to seal failures, leakage risks, and unplanned shutdowns.
