Core Responsibilities
- Inspect fabricated piping spools at site using measuring tapes, welding gauges, and alignment tools before dispatch.
- Verify welding joints through visual inspection and documented checklists against approved drawings.
- Review material test certificates and compare heat numbers with physical tags on pipes and fittings.
- Record dimensional results and weld observations in quality inspection reports and site registers.
- Witness pressure testing activities and note gauge readings on approved test formats.
- Tag accepted and rejected items physically and segregate them at designated storage locations.
Skills and Technical Exposure
- Welding gauges, vernier calipers, and thickness measurement tools.
- Fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, and bill of materials.
- Material test certificates and inspection test plans.
- Pressure testing gauges and test record formats.
- Quality inspection reports and site quality registers.
Experience Context
- Work is performed at fabrication yards and industrial project sites handling structural and piping components.
- The role covers inspection of multiple piping spools and welded joints on a daily basis.
- Without this role, non conforming welds and incorrect materials may reach installation stages.
- The position supports steady project progress by controlling rework and material rejection.
