Core Responsibilities
- Inspect returned automotive components using measuring gauges, surface plates, and calibrated inspection fixtures to document customer complaint evidence.
- Prepare warranty claim reports using RMA records, rejection samples, and customer feedback documents for traceability.
- Conduct field failure studies on failed parts by dismantling assemblies and recording dimensional and visual findings.
- Compile 8D reports with root cause records, containment evidence, and corrective action sheets for customer submission.
- Verify corrective actions on shop-floor components through re-inspection, validation samples, and approval records.
Skills & Technical Exposure
- 8D problem-solving reports, customer complaint registers, and warranty analysis formats.
- RCA tools including fishbone diagrams, why-why sheets, and failure mode records.
- Measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and profile projectors.
- RMA documentation systems and customer quality portals.
- Automotive component drawings, control plans, and inspection standards.
Experience Context
- Works within an automotive manufacturing plant environment handling serial production parts and warranty returns.
- Interfaces with quality labs, inspection areas, and customer-return warehouses handling multiple complaint cases.
- Absence of this role results in unresolved customer claims, delayed corrective actions, and repeat field failures.
